Endpoint Protection

I know that Symantec AV Corporate 10.1 has hit the EOL, but it's been updating.  Well I just noticed our two servers are behind by about a week and when I attempt to update, it's says I have the latest version.  I just like to get confirmation that you can no longer get virus def updates for version 10.1 before I request approval to upgrade to the latest version.

Correct. SAV 10 is a End of Support Life (EOSL) product since 4 July 2012.

I would recommend you to run the current Latest version of SEP product . i.e; SEP 12.1.3001

Out of curiosity, why has it updated this long if EOL was over a year ago?

You should be considering updating to new versions at the earliest.

It was for those who signed a support extension contract and for latecoming too. We did not enforce it to keep our customers protected even if they were not paying the support extension but who was in this status was out of the EULA.

It seems that there was a new release yesterday. My defs for SAV10.x are now on 24-07-2013 rev.3 :-)

The definitions for the Central Quarantine server have also "stopped", still even that this is included in the latest download.for SEP12.1 ru3

Just tried, no such luck for me.

I'm using the XDBDown script for my download = getting the def from ftp.symantec.com

But it have been a bit sporadic the last week or two.

vd3dd402.xdb was from 17/7 and now vd3df003.xdb from 24/7.

We only have a small portion left of SAV8,9,10.x, but it's production eq, so they are not that easy to upgrade due to lack of everything. :-)

I would love to have them all up on 12.1, but when you have prod.eq clients around the world, where some of them can't have MS security updates applied, disk limitations, ressource limitations, old OS and so on, then it will take 3+ year to get all of them upgraded.

We have done most of them, but there are still some left.

Now we can just see that the same will happen with SEP11, so now we have started the upgrade of this version aswell. :-)

I too am using version 10.1 and am no longer getting updates from LiveUpdate. How are you getting updates? (you mention the ftp site, but I don't see anything resembling updates there)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

We are using 10.1 in our plant production environment, so any upgrade to 12.1 will need to be scheduled months in advance.

The latest defs I have now on SAV is from 28-08-2013 rev. 2, but it seems the defs are coming a bit sporadic.

Do you know if there are instructions somewhere for the 64 bit? I am only able to get the ftp solution working for the 32bit.
