I put 2 sep server for replication in diffrent site, in the first site i also have firewall server (ISA 2004) as a gate to the internet.

i had read a report that the second site bandwidth traffic is full, then i see the the SEP slave server usage 50% the bandwidth to communicate

to ISA server. while I was changing the configuration to update to the other server.so o .. nnnfs

as define a master SEP, after all, the master SEP server is configured to update after work hours.

why SEP server still need so much bandwidth to communicate to the internet, in the working hours ? i saw the sep usage port 8014.

could anybody please help answer my question.

    Thank You

    BS

    Hi,

As you have mentioned you have configured replication, what are the replication scheduled and settings ?

Does your all the clients are managed clients ? if unmanaged clients are present then they will go directly over internet to receive updates.

Have you given access user to launch liveupdate ? if yes it may consume your Internet bandwidth.

It could be cross traffic from your clients. In a default replication setup, the clients will get a Management Server List that has both servers and they'll randomly pick one. Unless you setup custom Management Server Lists, you will get this cross-talk.

See this doc for more info on setting up Management Server Lists:

Are the clients of ther SEPM reporting to 1st SEPM..Make sure you configure your Management Server List properly for both the sites so that Clients in each site should report to their respective SEPMs.

Port 8014 is used for communicating/Definition updates  between SEPM and the Clients.

Also make sure you use GUPs
