  • 1.  Symantec DLP on Linux running as a Database

    Hi,

I need to know is there a Symantec DLP Software that needs to be installed on the Linux server that is running as a Ha pair for a database?  I have an HA pair database servers that is connected to the Enforcement Server.  I want to know is there a DLP Software application that should be running on this Database, and if so what is the right Symantec Application for DLP to be installed on this Database?  Or do I need to just have Oracle 11g application installed on the Enforcement Server with connection as an ODBC back to the Database HA pair?

    hello,

there is no specific symantec software to be installed on DLP DB.

DLP is connected to database via ODBC in two ways :

    - tomcat server used for DLP UI

    - windows services to store DLP incident in DB

as far as your DBs are in active-passive mode there is no issue.

     Regards

    Hi Stephane,

Thank you, I thought so, I just wanted to be sure that I was not overlooking something.  As I thought it was and ODBC connection.  Yea we are not seeing any issues with the DBs currently.  But I am having issues logging into the Enforce Console UI with an AD account getting Invalid Username / Password or Disabled Account.  I have configure the krb5 file to point to the DC that is setup and configured in the console.  But still not able to authenticate AD user.  I might just put in a support ticket to see what the issue is.

Thank You for your help again!

Assuming the login still works as Administrator, you might benefit from this article about setting up AD authentication:

(If the login as Administrator does not work, you have additional issues that might require confirming connection to DB - either way, a support ticket would be a good step!)

    Hi Stephen,

Thank you sir, I fixed the issue, the Administrator works.  It ending up being a typo on my part my one number, as my directory connections was correct but in the krb5.conf file was wrong by one number.  I fixed that, after that the AD side was working and I was able to complete the task I needed to get done that day.
