    So, here is the situation...

I tried to deploy a custom client install with GPO.  I did not want the Email protection or NAP installed.  However, Symantec does not support custom installations deployed through third-party package deployment systems.  This is because, instead of an mst, they use an XML file to modify the install, and no package system supports that.

Well, after going back and forth with support about my issue with deploying the client, I was told that if I do a remote push install with just the Virus scanner checked, it would remove the product and reinstall with just what i want.

I did that, and I am now having a number of machines come up with the error below every time they restart their machines.  It seems the scanner is working, but this is annoying.

I have tried completely uninstalling Symantec and reinstalling, but this keeps coming up.  And if I follow that link, it takes me to an uninstall app, but it keeps telling me I need to be an Administrator, but I tried it with Domain admin, local admin, and user accounts...

    Thanks for your help!

You might try uninstalling using the Cleanwipe tool. You will need to contact support to get this tool.

    Best,

    Try this
    Remove SEP
    Delete following folders if present
    C:\Program Files\Symantec
    C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec

    Also delete following reg keys
    HKLM\Software\symantec
    HKCU\Software\symantec
    Install SEP and try..
