  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint: can't enable file system auto-protect

    Posted Jun 02, 2010 01:34 PM

    Hi,
my file system auto-protect somehow got disabled and I can't re-enable it. The symantec icon has the red cross over it, and when I open the management GUI it says in red at the top: "File System Auto-Protect is disabled. Click Fix to enable File System Auto-Protect".

When I click the "Fix" button nothing happens. When I open Options->Change Settings...->File System Auto-Protect the "Enable file system auto protect" checkbox is checked. Enabling and disabling it doesn't change the situation.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Additional details:
Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11.0.2020.56 running in unmanaged mode
Running on Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 edition, service pack 2 (8GB RAM)

There are several possible issues that could cause this problem. See - http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/222e9a831e8f88a88825739a0075c4bf?OpenDocument

You should also consider upgrading to he latest version RU6a. MR2 is very old and there have been tons of fixes since that build was released.

    open taskmagar
    kill all symantec process
    go to services tab
restart all symantec services; if above does not work
do a repair of sep from add/remove programs.
    File System Auto-Protect is malfunctioning
