  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint DLP questions...

I've currently installed Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise, mainly the Endpoint protection plus Network access control applications. I've been told that you should be able to block files/folders from being written/copied to external medias such as USB Keys. I've been able to block users from copying files/folders onto a USB key, but what i need to do is make exceptions as there are other files/folders that they should be able to copy onto a key. I was told before that it was possible to choose which files could/couldn't be written. Everything I have tried has failed in getting this to work. I was also told that I should run endpoint discover to choose which files are deemed confidential, but for some reason I cant seem to find this feature. I basically need help with setting up the exceptions.

May I please get help with this certain feature... If you need any more clarification dont hesitate to ask. Thanks!

    Reeko.

The software you have installed is not Symantec DLP. Its Symantec Endpoint Protection.
SEP (Symantec Endpoint Protection) has the ability to block Disk on Keys (Device Control) and also make them "read only".
But SEP does not have any "DLP" related abilities like searching for confidential data.
Please take a print screen and post it here. and also please mention what exactly do you wish to do.
I can tell you that at this moment, there is no possibility to use SEP to block certian file transfer, its all or nothing, you could exclude specific Disk on Keys that will be able to copy files to.
