This only started happening a few days ago, I have no idea why.

Under Malware Protection in Windows Security Center, it displays

"Symantec Endpoint Protection is on but is reporting its status to Windows Security Center in a format that is no longer supported. Use the program's automatic updating feature, or contact the program manufacturer for an updated version."

I tried running the LiveUpdate, but it didn't solve the problem.

I am running Vista Home Premium 64bit with Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11.0.2010.25

    Thanks for your replies..

Upgrade your SEP version to the latest version and/or disable Windows Security Center regarding SEP

Thanks. Upgrading the antivirus did not help. Apparently the only thing to do now is wait for them to come out with a new update. :)

I think SEP is alright, this maybe an issue with WMI repository unable to process OR corrupt

There are ways to clean the WMI repository

One of which I use is:

    1. Stop Windows Management Instrumentation(WMI) service。
    2. Delete all the files in C:\windows\system32\wbem\Repository folder
    3. Start Windows Management Instrumentation(WMI) service or reboot computer.

Warning: Consult Microsoft before WMI repository cleanup incase if you are dealing with a critical system.

    Thanks :-)

    Update on this issue...

We found this issue on a few vista machines lately.

    Most of the times
    1. Repository Cleanup OR
    2. Upgrade to SP2 for vista
has helped till now on all of them

Let us know if the issue still persists even after trying both the steps mentioned above

    Thanks :-)

Upgrade to SP2 for Vista, in that case Repository cleanup may not be required.

To summarize the steps would be:
    1. Upgrade to SP2 for Vista
    2. Reboot
Please let us know if the issue still remains

    Thanks :)
