Endpoint Protection

Hello,

after a corrupted database is decided to install a new SEPM Server. From this Server i pushed out new install packeges (now RU6MP1) with the Push-Tool and the Find Unmanaged Clients UI.
This worked for 160/200 Workstations, on the remainig PCs the installation failed for a reason i dont know.

Two SEPM_INST Logs are attached, maybe someone can find an clue in them.

Your question is not so clear for me.You are facing problem in SEP or in SEPM?

Sorry i mean SEP_Logs.
i have problems to install SEP on my clients, to connect them with the new SEPM server.

Logs not giving me any error.Do you verified manually whether and SEP service got installed/started?

I can see an entry in the Windwos error log.

Event ID: 11708
Source: MsiInstaller
Product: Symantec Endpoint Protection -- Installation operation failed.

After this error, the old SEP Services gets started again.

Are you installing in top of old SEP?If yes follow the solution 1 in this KB
How to point Symantec Endpoint Protection(SEP) clients to a new Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager after you have either uninstalled, are going to decommission or replace the Existing Primary Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM).

This is the exactly way i used to point the old installation to the new server.

If the Old Client version on the computers is working fine, thne you can just replace the Sylink file which is used for communication.

May I know how are you  trying to install, on the  computers  on which  it  is  failing? Could  you  please  upload a fresh install log from one  of them?

sylinkreplacer and sylinkdrop did not helped me on my test maschine, maybe tomorrow after a reboot some clients will go to the new server.
very interesting is, when i select a new package at the "install package" tab at clients group overview, the installation works fine...

ive used the inbuild function for non-managed computer, wich says "green dot" installation ok,
the unknowncomputer tab, where the installation status is red
and the support tool for push deployment

Hi,

 The log seems to be diffrent. Do the  following:

1. Run the  SETUP.EXE from the  SEP folder. Once the  install fails, do the following:

Go to start-run, and type:

%temp%

hit  OK.


Then you would see sep_inst.log  file. Post that  file.

The log is not complete

it looks like im having different failures.

same pc, setup.exe per remote session finished without problems, no log file generated.

i will test this with one of the "Installation failed"  Pcs... but maybe the attached log file can give a clue.

Try installing the client locally and see whether it is happening?

this was nearly locally, installation finished.

Whether this client is got connected to server now?If not manually run setup.exe and see how it goes..

after the manuall installation, the client software is up2date and connected to the new server.
But this is not the way i want to do for all remaining computers.

Have a look at this doc and assure that you had done the necessary settings
