Yes, there have been actually several builds since the one you have in use, resolving many known issues. The one you describe was resolved with RU6 MP1, as I mentioned.
The most current is either SEP 11 RU7 (11.0.7000), or SEP 12.1 (12.1.671.4971). I suggested RU6 MP3 because the SEPM for that build can be migrated up to either of the newest versions (RU7 or 12.1), whereas RU7 can't be migrated to 12.1, so which one you choose will depend on your migration plans for the near future.
As I said, this issue you describe is long since resolved. It happened when the SymantecRegistry.xml file was unable to be read / was damaged, so the client reported back incorrect info. This is also why removing and reinstalling will apparently resolve it.
