    Hi All,

We have recently encountered an issue whereby when we're using the Endpoint Protection Management Console, we are able to access either the "More Details" item on the Security Status, or the "Monitors" or "Reports" section. If after this initial access we attempt to access something else within these sections, we are presented with either a page with "Loading..." displayed (on the "More Details" item) or the "Loading..." progress bar. This issue is apparent on both the local Management Console on the server and all Consoles installed on PCs.

I've already checked the ODBC connection and that tests successfully. I've also done a clean shutdown/reboot of the server with no success.

    Could you please advise?

*** EDIT I've finally resolved this issue - the server settings Proxy settings were disabled and needed to be reactivated. *** /EDIT

What is the OS installed on the machine hosting SEPM?.

What is the version of SEPM installed.

Server 2003, by default, does not allow Java to be run in Internet Explorer (IE).
The reports are generated by Java code so even though no errors are displayed the code is denied access to the information to generate the report.

Add the sites, http://localhost, http://{ipofserver}, to the trusted sites list and set security for trusted sites to low in IE
Disable all pop up blocking software and pop up blocking options in Internet Explorer.

Run the reports from a workstation where IE allows Java

Check the permission on program files\Symantec Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub
    and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.

Also make sure you are not logged in using Remote Desktop. If using RDP use Console session.

If non of the above suggestion not helps try this
adjust the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager heap size:
    Click Start> Run.
In the Run dialog box, type regedit
    Press Enter.
    Locate the following registry key:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\semsrv\Parameters\

    Locate the following keys:
    JVM Option Number 0
    JVM Option Number 1

Adjust the key values upward, and for optimal performance, match the key values.
For example, to create a 1 GB static heap, set: "JVM Option Number 0" to "-Xms512m", and set "JVM Option Number 1" to "-Xmx1024m".
    Close Regedit.
    Click Start> Settings> Control Panel> Administrative Tools
In the Services dialog box, right-click Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, and then click Restart.

    Hi,

I've tried all of the above and still no good.

The odd thing is that it initially appears to succeed in that I am able to access "More Details..." and the monitors/reports tab for a few moments but going back to try again within the same session results in the "Loading" message.

The server is on Windows 2003 and the Management Console is version 11.0.5002.333

    Thanks for the suggestions above

In SEPM Go to the Tools > Internet Options > Advanced of IE and perform the following steps to resolve the issue The following settings must be enabled when using Internet Explorer 7 / Internet Explorer 8: Under Miscellaneous: Submit non-encrypted form data Under Scripting: Active Scripting Under Scripting: Allow status bar updates via script Please ensure that you restart the IIS Admin service after performing these changes. Click on Start > Run > Type "iisreset" without the quotes and click OK Login locally in SEPM and try..

check with IE settings as mentioned by aravind, have you tried all the settings mentioned in the above document?
    if not try this
To change the Transaction timeout value
    1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Component Services.
    2. In the left pane, expand Component Services > Computers.
    3. Right-click My Computer and then click Properties.
    4. On the Options tab, in the Transaction timeout box, type the value that you want (in seconds).
    5. Click OK.

None of the above worked. Transaction timeout value is now set to 120 secs, was 60.

...didn't do the trick I'm afraid!

Something else I've noticed - the "Loading..." screen even appears when you are logging out of the console!

As ever, thank you for your suggestions so far...! Hopefully we can crack this together.

what  is the H/W configuration of your server.?

I've reduced this down to 10 rows with no result.

This has all been fine up until the last fortnight or so and I can't think of any system changes that would've caused this...

    Anyway, server config:

Dell PowerEdge 2800 w/ Intel Xeon 3.6GHz x 4, 4096MB RAM, system drive 10GB free, E: drive where SEPM is installed 79.6GB free

I've uninstalled SEPM and IIS then reinstalled both with little effect.

Now if I click on an interface option, it will say "Loading..." for awhile and eventually load after a minute or so... but still nothing like as quick as it was responding only three weeks ago!
