Symantec Management Platform (Notification Server)

I just installed Symantec Management Platform 7.1 with Client Management Suite and Server Management Suite.  I had a lot of trouble getting it to install, namely errors about ASP.Net scripts missing.  After several installs and uninstalls in different orders, I finally got everything to install, by installing Server Management Suite first, don't know why that would make a difference.

Now that it is installed, on the Management Console window, the icons for the buttons are missing on the left side of the window.  Such as in the settings window.

I have tried repairing and that hasn't helped.  This happens on both the console on the NS server and remotely. Browser is IE8.

I would look into the reason why you had .NET errors during the install.  Given a Windows Server 2008 R2 server on the domain (or not!) with a local administrator running the install, everything goes swimmingly every time.  When you start using accounts with insufficient rights, or have UAC enabled, or have antivirus in the way, or perhaps restrictive GPOs or settings -- that's when I've seen this happen.

I would work harder on getting a clean install than repairing this dirty one, personally.  Is it possible to start over and, when you encounter the error, work out the cause?

Not a big fan off "rebuild" because I don't know exactly what the problem is, if I took this approach after SP2 I would have been rebuilding the servers more times than I could count.

I'm also seeing the red x's when I now look under Jobs and Tasks... its not every icon, about a 1/3.  Any ideas without rebuilding would be good <wink>?!

This represents an IIS problem. Try repairing the Platform first, then each Suite.

Check IIS logs for errors.

Check Altiris Log Viewer for errors.

Check Windows Event Viewer for errors.

I think it is a IE security issue. Try loggin to NS from other machine check if you get the same problem..

You can also go IIS and open the website and check what is happening.

Do you still have this problem? I think you need to execute aexconfig.exe /configure for some config files at \Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Config

Aexconfig.exe /configure can replace these missing icons and components. I had this same problem with Deployment Solution 7.1 configuration itens, and repair couldn't help me, but the aexconfig.exe /configure solve the problem.
