Hello, I have opened up a Support ticket on this question that I am posting as well.

I am currently looking for an HA solution for the SMP, we would be ussing CMS, Asset Management, Deployment Solutions. I was hoping that SMP would support a form of HA. I have talked to a Symantec trainer and has suggested that Database Mirrioring should work.

I have built out the Mirriorng Database with a witness.

    labsql\instance1

    labsql2\instance1

    sqlwitness

When I manually fail over the system I see all of the SMP connections closing from the former Principal Server and re establishing new sessions to the new Principal database. Unfortunately I lose out access to pages with in the SMP Server. This seems to be something isnt working right but then again SMP is just the platform and all the pieces are all built differently. Is Database Mirroring a real option or I am just encountering something weird in general, has anybody else deployed the SMP with CMS, DS, Asset that has a functioning Database mirroring going on.

    Thank you for your time.

Are you updating the database configuration, using a process such as the one in this KB?

Most people go for HA by virtualizing the SMP to leverage technologies like vMotion and placing SQL in a SQL cluster.

You will probably have found out from support by now that this method is not supported.  I'm especially concerned about the additional SQL load which could cause performance issues.
