Symantec Messaging Gateway 10.5.3 - Admin password

    Hello guys,

     

    We have a Symantec Messaging Gateway 10.5.3 - Physical appliance, the previous admin did not handover the passwords so I cannot login now, i have tried all possible ways to reset but no luck.

    Admin account is not associated with an email. And I could not find any document to reset the appliance to its factory settings.

    Can you please support me to get the system up again.

    Hi Mohammed,

    If you're going to reset the appliance to factory defaults, then follow the TN below:

    Bear in mind that without backups you're going to have to set it up from scratch. Otherwise, you will have to log a formal support call with Symantec to see if they have a backdoor onto it.

    thanks for the reply.

    i have already seen this page, unfortuanlty the link to physical appliance is not working. only virtual appliance link works.

     

    is there any other way?

    Thank you Alexander for keeping up with the post.

    I am new to this system, How to format it? how do i get the ISO image to do that? as you can see above, the link to reseting a physical appliance is dead. Can you please giude me on getting the right document for reseting it?

     

    How do I get a support call? Does it require a valid service contract? cause even the system license is over and i am going to get a new license anyway.

    Mohammed, you get support from Symantec on the link below:

    If there is no physical reset button, and you cannot get in then you'd need to log the call with Symantec. This assumes you need some sort of maintenance agreement in place. If your agreement has expired, I doubt you will get support. In this case you'd need to renew or relicense.

    When you log a call they will assist with further information on that.

    Call Symantec, do not make a support ticket thru the portal. Don't ask, just do it. Once their, get out the credit card cuz with no support contract, they won't help you. Note: do not use a credit card, ask Symantec how to pay. Then u r golden.

    Yay. Once you have smg working make a secondary account with equal admin rights as the default and make sure there are at least two of you who have access to future proof yourself.
