  • 1.  Symantec Protection Center stopped working

    All of a sudden my Protection Center isn't working anymore. If I start the service, it is in a stopped state after a few seconds.
    Windows eventviewer gives the cryptic: "The Java Virtual Machine has exited with a code of 1, the service is stopped."

    Any suggestions?

    1 hour troubleshooting and then 5min after I cry for help I realize that VMWare Server was installed last friday.
    Seems to be fighting with Symantec over port 8005.

    Sollution should be easy now :)

    Yes , you are correct , tomcat uses port 8005 in SPC.

    Stop the SPC service and Change the port in server.xml to any other port.

    You did a good job to troubleshooting and find out the course of the problem. This will be a Best Practice when implementing both SPC and VMware Server on the same machine.
