    Hello All,

     

    I recently upgraded Symantec protection engine 7. to 7.5 since then i have a issue.  I keep getting error " through ssecls it says unable to connect to Symantec protection engine " i am using a proxy which has user name and password. This use to work with 7.  Strangely if i remove the contents from liveupdate.xml then it’s working.

    Any Suggestion would be of great help.

    Try to enable WMI and restart server then check again

    The proxy information is only for connecting to LiveUpdate for definitions.  Can you confirm that you can have files scanned by the protection engine itself first of all?

    I am fairly new to scan engine.  Are there some kind of logs which would show me that i am able scan files by the PE.

    If you look at the reports, you can generate a report which shows the number of files being scanned.  Request a file that should be scanned by the engine, then re-run the report and see if there's a difference.  That's the easiest way.  Either that or you can tell from the logs within your NAS if files are being returned with verdicts of clean or infected.

    Greetings,

    I have been trying to find version 7.0.5, but I only see version 7.0.2.4 on File connect as available for Download.

    Is File connect the only place where updated versions can be downloaded?

    It's 7.5 that's the most recent version.  If you can't see that I suggest you contact customer care.  You need to have a valid support agreement in order to receive upgrades though.
