    Posted Jul 26, 2016 05:29 AM

    Hi,

I'm trying to install the latest Symantec Endpoint protection, Small Business Edition on my clients' Dell desktops, however, when I try to install the Symantec Endpoint protection I was asked to uninstall Dell Embassy Trust Suite before proceeding.

I have tried to run applwiz.cpl in administrator mode, but I didn't find the Dell Embassy Trust suite anywhere in the Add/Remove Programs,

I have log this case to Symanctec support but it seems that the support have no other solution to resolve this.

Kindly advise what can I do because otherwise my clients are not protected.

    User's PC specification:

    Desktop with Windows 10 installed.

Symantec Endpoint Protection, Small Business Edition.

    Thank you.

Not sure why. I've used Trust Suite in the past with SEP just fine. What is the exact reasoning?

Check the registry under HKLM\Software\[WOW6432Node]\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and see if you can find it there, that might give an uninstall string.

    Hi Andy,

I have search HKLM\Software\[WOW6432Node]\Microsoft\Windows\ but there was no current version uninstall, that kind of stuffs.

Yoiu need to check with and without the WOW6423Node bit. Check program files and porgram files (x86) too. And maybe Services, perhaps it's been uninstalled and left a Service behind.

Check in all of the usual system locations, including the registry for "Wave Systems."

You could also look in the Dell folder in the Program Files and Program Files (x86) directories to see if there is a specific Embassy Trust Suite folder.

I ran into this issue years ago - and thought that Symantec had fixed the problem (perhaps something regressed), but if you find the service and disable it, along with any start-up items in msconfig, you should be good to install afterwards.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi,

Check the Norton Installer logs present under C:\Programdata\NortonInstaller\log\

You might find similar error in the logs.

    Hi all,

Really appreciate the active support and suggestions. The case 10839378 has been closed because I have discovered the solution for the case.

I have uninstalled Dell Data security access and reinstall Symantec which it work.

Funny thing is that it is only when I uninstall Dell Data Security Access, then only did I see the word Wave appears as the software name.

    Case can be closed
