Virtual Secure Web Gateway

hi ,

i have download symantec web gateway 5.0.2. vmimage

i have deployed it using OVF TEMPLATE

it is linux base and asking for login and password ?

After deployment you should be able to access the web interface at 192.168.254.254 to configure it.

I have attached the implementation guide which has all the configuration requirements and information about the Symantec Web Gateway options/configuration and usage.

symantec webgateway is running in proxy mode. Active Directory policies have been configured using AD Integration on Symantec Web Gateway (SWG) 5.0.x. custome reports generated by user ID but user base policy not working every one can use internet by putting web gateway proxy. . logs .  

I need the solution that, user cannot use internet throug put up proxy (IP), they are allow to use internet if the user is a member of "Allow internet Group" in Active Directory. Otherwise they are not to allow internet by default.

Have you configured NTLM or DCinterface? With out one of those configured the SWG has no way of corrilating username to their IP address so it will be unable to enforce any policy based on LDAP membership.

i need assistance in deployment

i am able to log in it is asking to configure  i am not configuring appliance .

in the guide it is sayin for appliance which i dont want.attached is the screen shot i have checked ip is given ,however when i configured another machine with the following ip .no access to portal

To configure a computer to access Symantec Web Gateway for installation

1 Copy the license file to the local hard drive on the computer.

2 Access the network configuration settings on the computer.

3 Set the IP address of the computer to the following address:

192.168.254.253

4 Set the subnet mask of the computer to the following address:

255.255.255.0

You do not have to configure any other network settings such as default

gateway or DNS.

5 Save the settings.

6 Connect an Ethernet cable from this computer to the management port on

the back of the Symantec Web Gateway appliance. 

You need to access the web interface on the Web Gateway once you connect directly to it. This can only be done from another virtual machine since you are using a private IP address for the Web Gateway.

 i tired to access from different vm machine

it is not opening .what abt the subnet ?on which subnet the vmmachine should be

as symantec webgate 192.168.254.254

i add 192.x.x.x in advaced properties of tcp/ip settings

i can access console and configure the swg
