Wanted to ask you if you can share experiences or best practices , regarding symantec web gateway reporting, Im not very happy with reporting options i have , the documentation does not shows much as far i was able to see.

How are you doing reporting ?

The emphasis on Web Gateway is protecting your clients. It was not designed to be a device that will record everything your users do online. What reporting are you wanting that you do not have?

Internet usage statistics , like any other proxy gateway usually delivers. Reports based on user , reports based by category of content .

I have previous experience with Cisco IronPort and Cacheflow(Bluecoat) as well (Squid+ Smartfilter) i was always able to get reports and find information quickly and correlate it in case of Incidents.

Is there any chance to build this reports ? even if we use a 3rd party tool ?

Those are all functions of a compliance product. The Web Gateway is a security product. Those products are better suited for tracking what users are doing online and are less focused on protecting the client computers. The Custom Reports feature of the Web Gateway is still powerful, allowing multiple filters and the ability to block custom content and schedule custom reports to be sent via multiple methods to another server.

Can i customize a detailed report about Users browsing activities?

You will need to use the custom report option this will get you a detailed report for the specific user you want, you may then export this report has txt, csv
