In our library, we use an image with sysprep and UIU

previously, we used the same processed image and ghost configuration for computer name only.
we intentionally left open for computer name in sysprep so that we can use same image for 150+ pcs

before GSS 2.0.1 (with updates), this method worked fine. the new cloned computer gets the name from configuration and rest of setups are done by sysprep.

The problem we are having now is that whenever we use the image(sysprep+UIU) with a configuration,
the personal information(name & oganization) and the product key(volume licensed key) get lost.
i have to manually put the information during mini-setup

when i clone without configuration, it work fine except i need to put a computer name manually in mini-setup. personal information and product key does remain in sysprep.

I have played around with the checkboxes in configurations, but nothing worked.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Sung,

What is your client's OS, and whether the sysprep'd image is created from a same version of the current running Console or was created from previous released version?  You can try to create a new sysprep'd image,  and in the "image create task" sysprep page click "edit unattend file" button to make sure the answer file is correct.  Then perform a clone task with configuration step to see what happens.

    Good Luck,
    Jenny

    Hey Sung,

A similar behavior has been reported in another thread, and has been identified is a bug in GSS 2.0.1.  The root of the cause is that the code is not able to handle if an answer file's section header line contains comments.  For more details please look at https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=109&message.id=5094

If your scenario is different to the above, please send me your answer file at fujhome@gmail.com.

    Thanks,
    Jenny

    Hi Sung,

I have an  almost same problem at GSS 2. Either we need to change computer name and re-join domain manually without configuration, or re-join domain manually with previous configuration setup checked.

We used Norton ghost (commercial version) before and started to use GSS 2 a month ago.  I would like to ask if you don't mind to share how the sysprep and UIU work together.  Thanks!
