I have in front of me a laptop from one of our sales force that is randomingly talking. It's spewing ad's of various subjects. We're running Endpoint 11.0.42nn. Norton was disabled on this laptop. I have tried to re-install through the network but can't get beyond the initial creation of the files. I used Clean-Wipe to remove the original copy to start fresh. Slaes person claims they did nothing and this just started happening. I did remove a product called Antivirus Live basic,
Any suggestions as to how I can get Endpoint re-installed and what may be the initial cause that is disabled Norton in the first palce?

    Hi Larry,

In this case you may contact Syamntec tech support grab NSS tool & with it do a full scan on the machine & try to install sep. OR you can connect the hard drive of this machine to another machine with latest definitions & do full scan of the hard drive.

What is this Norton you speak of, when we are in the Symantec forum?

Ran the scan it came up ok. Still can't load Endpoint. Also tried to re-format the hard drive and start again. Can't find hard drive ?? even though I can boot it up with no problems. Currently running chkdsk.

    Thanks

I would run a combination of Spybot Search & Destroy, Malwarebytes Antimalware and HiJack This and make sure everything is clean.  When does the install error out?  Do you have access to the SEP_INST.log?

    Yes, run malwarebytes antimalware.
I've also run trojan remover by simply super software or some name like that.
Antimalware and Trojan remover almost always get those critters that escape other things.......
If you can find and corral or lasso a file, submit it.................
