Hello Alexsander,
Symantec provides to its employees and partners a sizing tool that can estimate the necessary number of SMG appliances (either physical or virtual) based in some criteria. Here are some of the information needed, for example:
- Number of users
- Average number of incoming / outgoing messages per day
- Estimative of the percentage of Spam received
- Estimative of increase in email volume per year
- High Availability and / or Disaster Recovery needs
Based on the figures you have posted, it's fairly easy to SMG to handle this email volume. As a result from inputing them in our sizing tool, it comes out with the following recommendation:
- One (1) Control Center, Virtual Edition, with 4 CPU Cores, 8Gb of RAM. Please allocate at least 300Gb of Virtual Hard Disk. You should plan the space needed for the Virtual Disk based on quarantine usage/retention, log retention, frequency of backups. All backups are created locally and then transfered to a location out-of-the-box.
- Two (2) Scanners, Virtual Edition, with 4 CPU Cores, 4 Gb of RAM. Please allocate at least 90Gb for each scanner. This will be enought space to handle local queues, logs and updates.
Please let me know if you have further doubts.
