Messaging Gateway

I would like to know whether there is a way to transfer the message audit log. We keep message audit log for 21 days. Problem we have is that if users have queries for mail of more than 21 days, then we cannot help them. I would have liked to move the message audit log to another server, say every week, then if ever I have a query I can search from it.

Hi,

There are 2 ways:

- Backup: Go to Administration | Hosts | Version | Backup and adopt custom and schedule it to your needs - can be stored locally or off the cc via scp or ftp

But, you need to restore the backup to search mal

- Syslog: Go to Administration | Settings | Logs - for every scanner (in case of CC and scanner separated installation) you can set a remote logging based on syslog. We use it for quite a while and fulfills exactly this need + custom alerting + reporting / statistics.

Include content incident messages
Include report data
Include log data

Sorry, option1 (Backup using ControlCenter) would not give you any mallog.

You've still got 2 options:

1.syslog see post above

2. mallog --backup url ... for details see the SMG command line reference at https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.DOC9110.html
