  • 1.  Trouble pushing or manually starting Install

We have a hand full of Windows 2003 servers that we're trying to deploy SEP 11 to and are getting the message "SMCRES.dll could not be found"

This comes when pushing from the SEP server or copying the installer directly to the server.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What happens when you try and install a "self - managed" client ?( which can be later converted into a managed client by replacing the sylink.xml)

Just out of curiosity, are you using RDP to perform the installation?

Did you already have an earlier version of SEP or Symantec Antivirus installed? Did you first uninstall that version or just install on top of the old version?

We're not using RDP, rather have tried the Push from the SEP 11 server as well as the standalone setup.exe from the system logged in as a domain administrator.

I'm building a non-managed version of the client now and will try that and let you know how we make out.

    Thanks so much!
