  • 1.  Trying to install DS for Clients 7 Only "Create Packages" is Available

    I have tried to do a clean install of Deployment Solution for Client 7.1 on a Windows Server 2008 VM and a Win7 Desktop but cannot past the cycle of package creation.  The install option is always greyed out in the Symantec Installation Manager 7.1.194.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Are you following a process like this?

    It sounds like you're creating to create an installation package, which creates an offline package you can use to install Altiris on a different server.  What you want to be doing is selecting Install new products, then select deployment solution, either as a solution or as part of Client Management Suite.

    Symantec Installation Manager will olny let you create an installation package on any other OS.

    Thanks, guys.  Turns out that server was SP2 and not not R2. blush

    Building a new one now and will use the walk through.

    But I've seen no word on Flash 11 or Silverlight 5, 10 and 4 are the "approved" versions.

    And I'd make sure Analysis and Reporting Services are on your SQL Server for IT Analytics before you start as it can be a pain having to reboot it later.
