  • 1.  unable to access jarfile scm-ui.jar

    Hello everyone,

Today I just received this error when attempting to open the SEP Management Console:

    "unable to access jarfile scm-ui.jar"

SEP has been installed and running fine for hmmm...at least 8 or so months. I haven't noticed an problems until now. I'm currently browsing the forums and came across a user that stated she had to repair the installation files. Not sure if their problem was encountered on the first atempt of running the app after installation.

I thought I would see if anyone else has gotten this error before and what they did to fix.

Our version of SEP is installed on a server running Windows Server 2003 R2. This particular server also acts as our print server.

    Thanks - Joseph

I have rebooted the server and still got the same error when trying to open the Management Console.

I logged into the server with my Admin account and had no problems running the SEP MC. However, with my other domain user account I still get the user interface error when attempting to run the management console.

I just wanted to mention this. It appears to be user specific.

I just fixed it without having to issue a repair. My problem was that the desktop shortcut that I had beeing using for months apparently got hosed up. There are 2 things that led me to thinking that it was a bad shortcut.

    1. SEP Management Console was working properly with another admin account that I use to logon to our terminal servers. I just added that account to the Admin group....as a test. However, with this test account I do not have my normal desktop shortcuts. So, I was browsing through the Start Menu>All Programs and launching app from there.

    2. While I was logged on with my normal domain account I wasn't even getting any response when I would click the Migration and Deployment desktop shortcut.

That's when I tried running the app from All Programs and it worked. Deleted the 2 SEP desktop shortcuts and recreated them then presto.

Thanks Sandeep_Cheema for the quick response. I'm new to the Symantec forums: am I suppose to reward points or close this thread. I do not see any options....

You can declare your last post as the solution.
