  • 1.  Unable to add disk to group

    Hi!

I just installed an additional hard drive with the three I already have.  Those three are already WDE.  So when I try to encrypt this new one I get an error message saying "unable to add disk to group."

    I am using 10.1.2 (build 9) on Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

I have recently downloaded 10.2, but have not used it yet on account of all the problems I have been hearing about it here and elsewhere.

    Thanks!

check if that disk device is already being showed on universal server devices.

If so , delete it. And try encryption again.

are you running pgp with local administrator access?

Yes I am.  But nonthing seems to help.  I see the unencrypted hard drive listed in the space where you select a drive to encrypt or decrypt.  So I select it.  Then enter in my password, and then the error message pops up.

I have no clue how to fix this!  Can tech support help??????????????????

Actually, I am Tech Support Engineer.

Is your profile local o remote? (where is your documents folder located?)

Check NTFS permissions on your disk, you should have full control.

Check disk health with an appropiate software

Is the disk already encrypted with another software?

Close every security software and try again,

Also try encrypting in safe mode.

If no luck with these steps, you will have to create a new case to Symantec support so we can troubleshoot in deep.
