  • 1.  unable to communicate with reporting component

    Posted Jan 26, 2010 12:43 PM

    Server is Windows 2008 X64

I just upgraded MR4 to MR5. I'm able to logon to the SEP Manager but I get the unable to communicate with reproting component.

At administrator\Data Source (ODBC) -> SystemDNS   there is no Symantec Endpoint Security DSN.

    How do I fix this?

    For ODBC Connections

How to work with Data Sources (ODBC) or ODBC connection in 64bit Windows OS

Try a repair of the SEPM.

Let us know the error in the event viewer

The location for ODBC is diffrent on a 64 bit machine

    for that you have to
    1. Go to %systemroot%\Windows\SysWoW64 folder (Example - Click Start -> Run -> C:\Windows\Syswow64 and click on OK)
    2. Locate Odbcad32.exe & double click on the file
    3. Click on System DSN Tab
    4. You will find the "SymantecEndpointDSN" listed in the window.
    5. Now click on the CONFIGURE button and proceed with the configuration of the DSN for the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

Thanks guys. I'm able to locate the SymantecEndpointDSN now. Although the DSN didn't resolve my issue directly, it did lead to a solution.
