I am currently unable to create a software update policy in my production environment. All worked well last month and is still working fine in my test environment. After I create a policy using the wizard, the following message appears in the logs:

Failed to initialise SoftwareUpdateAdvertismentSetPolicy "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Has anyone else seen this? Getting ready to open a support ticket.

Environment : Patch Management 7.1, not with SP1.

may you have a look at TECH164471 and articles it references to check whether you may have the same issue (broken staging functionality because of disappeared Patch vendor policy)?

I did end up calling support and performing a full repair of patch management solution. It did not work until I applied the pointfix available from support and referred to in the previous comment. TECH164471.
