  • 1.  Unable to export Logs in SEPM Web Console

    Posted Oct 28, 2014 11:27 AM

In either IE 11 or Chrome.  I can navigate within the console just not export any logs.  In IE11,  "Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate." and Chrome is a frown.

Have installed The Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager certificate according to TECH123686 to the Trusted Root Authority

Added the server to Trsusted sites in IE.

Have also disabled Check for Server Cert Revocation in IE.

    SEPM 12.1.5

    My system is Win8.1 64

    I dumbfounded!

    Thanks.

IE doesn't give you an option to bypass? Is the enhanced security off?

    Try this

    1. Right-click the error page "Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate" and click Properties.
    2. Copy the URL address from "https://[hostname]: XXXX /Transfer.screen?sID= [section ID]" on the Properties dialog box.
    3. Open a new tab in IE 11 to browse the URL you copied from the previous step.
    4. Click Continue to this website.
    5. Click Certificate Error, and then click View certificates.
    6. On the Certificate dialog, click Install Certificate and then click Next.
    7. Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities for the certificate store and click Next to complete the Certificate Import Wizard.
    8. Open a new tab in IE 11 to browse the SEPM console again

    Swapnil,

This is close.  Following your first recommendation I was able to access the export/download by proceeding through "The identity of this web site or the integrity of this connection cannot be verified, do you want to proceed".  Was not given the option to install the cert.

Interestingly the URL for the export/download of the logs reverts to the servers IP versus the servers FQDN that the cert lists.   If it is because of the IP hwo do I change the export/download to the servers FQDN versus IP?

Just type in the FQDN as opposed to the IP

.Brian, As originally stated when I click export on a Report is when I get the cert error.  The system is generating the export URL not me so where would I type the FQDN..just asking?

In the browser. When you go to access the SEPM, access it by http://<sepmname>:9090 intead of http://>sepmip>:9090

Open a new tab in IE 11 to browse the SEPM console again using the server’s hostname instead of the IP address.
For example, use https://Hostname:9090/sepmname for the console to work. If you use https://FQDN:4343/sepmname or https://10.x.x.x:9090/sepmname, it will fail with same error.

I think if you try this it should allow you to open SEPM Console

That is what I use?  When I log in to my SEPM console I use the FQDN.  I can navigate around within the console without a hitch until I try and export a report or log is when I hit the cert snag.

I've gone ahead with installing Java and the SEPM Console which enables me to export the logs.

I did try the above recommended solutions with no joy.

Thanks for everyones time and efforts.
