What happens when you do a search for it?

    What's the exact version here?

A common cause for this is when you have SEP included in an image without first clearing the HWIDs from the image (causing all the cloned machines to link to the same client record, which then constantly updates with the name of the last machine to check in):

Could this be the case?  If so, the above article contains further links on how to remediate the duplilcate HWID.  This might also help:

click on admin- domains, if you see multiple SEPM domains then you need administer that look if you can find the client in there.

Try to search with IP address /host name. You may get duplicate entries. If SEP is included in base OS image without following best practice it can cause this issue.

    What is your SEPM version?

Similar issue i was faced in the past which is because of image systems. Image system is installed with inculded of SEP client without following the process. This can create the dulicate hardware id on multiple systems. Due to this client reflect online but not be communicate to SEPM and not reflect on SEPM.
