Please check the application control log on the machine, there might be some rule blocking some processes, files or registry keys from being read or written.

In addition, it might be wise to check the network protection logs, if there is a possibilty that some of the files are being hosted on another machine on your LAN.

It might be the Heuristics kicking in. I'm assuming by Oracle9i, you mean the database.

The only other option is to temporarily disable the SMC service like you are already doing, and continue with the installation. Even I faced the same issue a month or so ago. I run 3 DB's on my laptop, SQL 2005, Oracle10g and MySQL.

I faced this issue with only Oracle, and I'm assuming that it's the Heuristics is performing a False Positive based on the Application Installation behavior and hence not letting the Oracle Installation Agent load programs into system memory before unpacking it and proceeding with the installation.

    Hi Bijay,

I don't thing this is because of AntiVirus. This looks more like Environmental. You may have to into settings on the computer(permission or something)

    Hi MKN

Thsi happens only after installing sep client. that too if it takes policies from sepm. and if i install it unmanaged then no problem in installing any software.

also if i use smc -stop command and then try to install oracle then it installs fine.

I guess there is sone "Application and device" policy problem here.

I have enabled 3 settings in "Application and Device " policy

    1) Protect client files and registry keys ----Production
2)Block Modification to host files ------------production
    3)Block access to Autorun.inf ----------------production

    no custom IPS .
firewall is used to block some ipaddress that is not related to oracle.

If that is the case, I would advise to Withdraw the polic one by one and the check if the policy that you are using is cauisng this issue.

If this works then may be you will have to check that policy.
