    hi,

I hv this error during SEP installation, any idea ?

"Error 1406. Could not write value OS\ver_MajorVer to key\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\AV. VErify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel"

FYI, I've login with ADMINISTRATOR and tried to install, same msg appeared.

    regards,
    Jim

    Hi,

We generally get this error when we have an instance of a Norton Product installed such as Norton Internet Security. Please check in the add/remove program and in case there is an installation remove it and then try the installation of endpoint.

Are you trying to install on Win7 or XP?
    whats the OS?
seems like its an permission issue. you need to check the permissions using symantec test sec tool

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/ppfdocs/2008053006154648?Open&dtype=corp&src=&seg=&om=1&om_out=prod

Did you check the permissions as mentioned int the doucment jim..?

    got to start - run
    type %temp%
    look for SEP_INST.log file
look for return value 3, paste it 15 lines above and below the return value 3,
I would suggest you to check the permissions from the above document

You need to check the permission on the registry and need to paste the install log for us to help you..If you cannot do that then call support.
