  • 1.  Unable to install SEP to Debian Linux

    Posted May 29, 2016 12:58 AM

    Hi,

I am following the link below to install SEP to Linux:

    http://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-install-symantec-endpoint-protection-1215-ru5-linux-operating-system

I am using Debian Linux (kernel 3.4.67+)

But it fails in performing pre-check, it returns 2 errors and 1 warning: to install Java 1.5 or above and jce files, 32bits glibc library and X11 libraries are missing.

Then I installed openjdk-6-jre (which can be provided by Debian) and jce policy files, also glibc library. But it still return the above errors in pre-check.

Do anyone has any ideas why.

    Thanks!

    Danny

    Hi,

I managed to get through the pre-check. But after the installation, I found I cannot install the Auto Protect, running program eg. symcfgd

From the sepfl-install.log (attached), it seems that SEP cannot run on ARM CPU.

So I want to know SEP supports on Debian Linux with ARM CPU or not?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

In your case, please run the below command -

    yum install glibc.i686

Secondly, please install the Latest version of JRE and JCE.

    Hope that helps!!

    Hi,

    Thanks all.

As described above of the official hardware requirement, SEP requires that Intel Pentium 4 (2 GHz) or higher processor, so I think SEP cannot support on ARM CPU. (Am I correct actually??)

    Best Regards,

    Danny

    Hello,

    Please find this article:

    System requirements for Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6 MP1, MP1a, MP2, MP3, MP4, MP5

If your H/W is not listed, then most likely it is not supported.

    Hope this helps.
