Unable to log into SEPM console

  • 1.  Unable to log into SEPM console

    Posted May 29, 2013 03:57 PM

For the past few days I am not able to log into SEPM version 12 RU2 console. The logging into Management Server console hangs forever.

I opened a case with Symantec and did the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Restarted SEPM services

    2. Rebooted SEPM server

    3. Ran SymHelp tool

    4. Ran FINEST logging and sent over logs for both SEPMs

    5. Tried to log into SEPM using web console, but that didn't work

This problem happened suddenly and I have no idea why. Symantec Engineers are still troubleshooting. Can you give some ideas?

They key is going to be of what is in the log, with FINEST enabled.

Rebooting/restarting is the easy "band-aid" fix but the problems usually comes back.

What did the SymHelp tool reveal?

    Is the SEPM service running?

Is your DB SQL or embedded?

    Regards

I tried logging into the SEPM from the server itself.

    I read https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sepm-hangs-after-sometime#comment-7051571
and the registry values for JVM Option Number 0 and JVM Option Number 1 are already set.

I have MS SQL database, no embedded database. Are there any troubleshooting articles if
the MS SQL database is NOT embedded?

And what type of error messages should I be looking for?

Also, if I can PM someone my case number, that would be quite helpful!

have you tried removing all the java versions installed?

and also durng logging in to the console. Try punching in the IP number instead of host name.

Rafeeq, I uninstalled Java and installed latest version, and still it is stuck. I even typed in the IP address of the SEPM server.

Other steps I have tried are:

Checking ODBC connection, which is Success

Running dbvalidator, which is Success, http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO39461

I am waiting to hear back from Engineer

I disconnected the SEPMs from the Database and reconnected, and I was able to log in.
