we have a client that isint updating any software and we have tried to uninstall the agent from the console but nothing happens, it just sits there s the logon box and hit uninstall and zero happens.

I tried to install the agent and I get the below error:

Failed to initiate Symantec Management Agent installation.

On the rollout agent to computers it says in status Failed to logon using admin account: access is to the netwk resource was denied even though I used the enterprise admin account which works fine on every other client but this one. it is a new client that has just been imaged.

On the client on the agent logs I see config settings errors - policy request failed: http error occured (0x80042d21).

I'm not sure why it is failing on this one client and not sure where to go from here, any suggestion would be greatly appreicated!

It sounds like it's already installed so a reinstall over it might not fix it. You might be better off running aexagentutil /clean to remove it and start again.

    I agree with Andykn101.

Also I suggest you to run /uninstallagents and then the /clean. Don't forget to open the regedit and delete the registry as well.

After run the process above, open the altiris page and run the Pull Installation just to ensure you are downloading the latest agent version.

Yes you may be better using the uninstall agents first, actually the clean option isn;t really used any more:

    • AeXAgentUtil.exe /uninstallagents
    • Aexnsagent.exe /uninstall

(Both executables are located, by default at: C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\)

There's some registry entries you can delete too but i wouldn't bother unless the above doesn't work.
