Unable to uninstall ccCommon, which is stopping me upgrading to Windows 10 Pro

I'm trying to upgrade from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro, but the installer's getting hung up because it can't uninstall ccCommon, which it says is incompatible with the upgrade, and when I click the 'Uninstall' button is giving me the message 'This MSI must be launched through setup'. It then tells me I need to remove the app myself.

ccCommon doesn't appear in my list of program files so I can't remove it through the Control Panel, and Revo Uninstaller doesn't find it either. Having dug around on the web it appears to be related to Symantec software that was installed in 2005, has three files with the name ccCommon, and is sitting in a Symantec Shared directory in my Common Files folder, but doesn't have an obvious way of uninstalling it.

I'm not currently using any Symantec software so am I ok to just delete the Symantec Shared directory, and if I do, will it solve the problem? I think the software was probably transferred over from a previous PC and if I can't remove it I can't see how I'm going to be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Microsoft's suggestion when I contacted them via the Community was to download the .ISO file for Windows 10 then perform an in place upgrade, choosing the option 'Keep personal files only'. To me this sounds like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, so I really would be grateful for any advice that saves me having to do this, otherwise I think I'll just have to stick with Windows 7!

Thanks in advance for any help!

You should be good to just remove that , especially if you don't have any Symantec software on the machine.
