    Posted Dec 19, 2011 06:28 AM

    Hi,

I am getting an error on any action I perform on any client using RAAD. Any action includes executing a software install, config request, send basic inventory, etc....

    Error Message :
    Failed: Cannot Create ActiveX Component.

Have tried restarting machine still no luck.

    Thanks in advance.

This issue has been mentioned by others in the following thread.  Hopefully you're using the latest version of RAAD v2.1.24.0 and meet all of the Requirements as outlined in HOWTO21449.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/raad-v2-perform-swd-task-agent-raad

RAAD has been hit or miss for me so not as extreme as your case.  I think RAAD has too many system requirements that make it a cumbersome tool to make really good use of.

Yes, I have referred to this HOWTO Doc and all requirements are matching....

Infact, it was working fine till last week and suddenly it started shooting me this error...

I have tried to install / uninstall agent, ReDirect Agent, start / stop altiris service which went fine...

And I get this error only when I try run a SWD task, request config, send basic inventory....

Not sure what would be the problem...

Have you tried running the task again with user credentials?

I was getting this issue because I was trying to run with my domain credentials on a machine that wasn't on the domain yet.

    Hi,

I have got another issue adding to the above one.

Whenever, I am connecting to any machine it gives me a message window saying, "An Exception has occurred, please check RAAD logs..." (Attached screenshot for reference).

I have looked around in my machine but did not find anything referring to RAAD_Log.

Does anyone have an idea where to look for RAAD logs.

    Thanks

RAAD_Log is actually in a Windows Event Log format.  On my Win7 box, it's in Event Viewer under "Applications and Services Logs" or specifically C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs.

Great, Thanks for info Clint... I found RAAD_Log under "Applications and Services Logs".

Would you also be able to help me on the below issue I am facing with RAAD.... I checked the RAAD logs and found the same error in every log..

Issue : I am able to install / uninstall agent, ReDirect Agent, start / stop altiris service using RAAD...

However, I below error only when I try run a SWD task, request config, send basic inventory....

    Error Message :
    Failed: Cannot Create ActiveX Component.

    As per the logs:

Cannot create ActiveX component. at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.CreateObject(String ProgId, String ServerName)

    at RAAD.ž.†(String Client)

Any help / guidance would be great on this.

We've had the same activex error and found that we had to do two things to get this to work:

    1. "Run as" to run RAAD with credentials that have admin access to the targeted machine.
    2. Specify the same admin credentials within RAAD.

No ActiveX issues for us anymore!
