Hi we recently installed Symantec 12.1 on a clients 2008 server. They previously had Symantec from another provider but all client machines had the software but it was out of license. We have put the latest as of a month ago Manager on there and found clients do not appear in the client list. From the client machines they do not receive the updates unless I run the "luall" command on each machine.

I have ran the Symantec Diagnostic tool and it tells me this...

the process tomcat6 (process ID 1908) is listening on the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager default port 8443

So ok how to I change it and what can i change it to as a good alternate? I am guessing this is what is stopping the clients from communicating.

    Thanks in advance,

    CC

Clients communicate to the SEPM over port 8014. Do you see a green dot on the client icon in the task tray? This would indicate the client is talking to SEPM.

No green dots Brian just the Yellow Shield. Like I say manually running LUALL seems to allow it to get updates but when left to its own devices it doesnt update. This is about 30client machines.

Can you also run the SymDiag tool on one of the affected machines to see if it can talk to the SEPM? You may need to replace the communication file to see if that fixes it.

I will try running the SymDiag Tool from a client machine as you said and see what the result is and come back to you with it. Thanks for your prompt replies Brian.

Hi I ran the SymDiag and it said it was able to communicate with the Endpoint Manager just fine and gave it a green tick. I need to correct what I wrote above and say it isnt the "LUALL" im running on the clients to update them it is right clicking the yellow shield and clicking "Update Policy" only this way they update.
