    Hello!

I need help. I upgraded the Altiris CMS console version 7.5 to the 7.6 HF7 and later upgraded to version 8.1 RU5, however after the upgrade, some computers are showing up as unknown windows on the console. Apparently they are computers running Windows 7 x64 SP1.
I have identified the information contained in the AEX_AC_IDENTIFICATION and VCOMPUTER tables and returns this unknown Windows value.
I already removed the console, uninstalled all the agents and pushed the client again and the error persists.

I did not find anything about this case on the Internet.

    Can anybody help me?

    Thank you.

I've also never seen this kind of behavior. You need to investigate it further, by using Log Viewer, SMA logs and the Altiris Profiler. Something may be broken, so I'd recommend repairing the SMP and, perhaps, the Inventory Solution.

YES!!!bThis is our isue too, we believe it could be computers that were partially deleted and then reintroduced to the system and some of the metadata still swirling around it never merges.  We discontinued AD imports and just trying to clean up but this new problem persists.  Any news?

IS there a step by step guide to the repairs mentioned for SMP and Inventory Solution?  please advise

Before doing anything, make sure your backup data is updated (dbs backup and vms snapshots).

This article outlines the procedures that need to take place in for a successfull repair of the solutions: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO9821.html.

One BIG detail here: The article tells you to use AeXConfig with the /ConfigureAll switch. DO NOT DO THAT. In doing so, you're going to reconfigure ALL SOLUTIONS.

It can take a little while, but the recommended steps are to reconfigure each one of the wanted solutions .config XML files in each solution folder.

    How to use AeXConfig:

    What does AeXConfig do?

For me it was partially solved. I disabled the AD discovery and forced Agent policies. The managed machines started reporting the Operating System correctly. I believe that as we also migrated the Domain, the machines imported from the AD and its OUs were lost.
I have already deleted all the resources associated with the old Domain, but I do not know if enabling the AD import rule again, the machines will return to report Unknown Windows. I still did not enable rule.

    Thank you for your help!
