  • 1.  Updating from remote URL?

    Posted Jun 23, 2009 06:36 AM
    Hi,

I have configured a site on IIS as a test for use with remote client upgrades. I have set up an installation package for the client group and have specified the setup.exe to use on the website. The clients seem to get the message that an update is available but nothing actuall kicks off and installs/updates.??

The only thing I can think is as a test the IIS site is set to use port 8008 so my path looks like http://webserver:8008/gup/sep11mr4mp2/setup.exe but as the upgrade message appears this is working????

Racking my brains and doesn't seem to be much documentation about either on this??

Thanks for any help offered :-)

    Rich.

Default data folder has everyone permission assigned to it.
Sometimes it does not get inherited below.
Give everyone permission on the Install Packages folder
program files\Symantec endpoint protection manager\Inetpub\Install packages
So that is it accessible for the clients.

If you are creating custom website for the package make sure you have given full control for everyone for the folder in which you have the install package.

What version are you moving from.  I had a smilar problem with it and it was only sucessful if I was going from a version of MR4 to MR4MP2.  Other than that I a had to let it pull from SEPM.
