  • 1.  upgrade RU5: dbserv9.dll locked

    Hi,

    I'm trying to upgrade from SEP 11.0.4202.75 (MR4 MP2) to the latest RU5 on a test environment (Win XP Pro).
    Backuped the database, stopped  SEP Manager and Embedded Database service, don't have any replication partners running.
    Halfway the upgrade I get following error:

    Error 1305: Error reading from file C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\ASA\win32\dbserv9.dll
    Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

    Where I can Retry of Cancel ...

    The file is there, but is locked by the installer itself (msiexec).
    Canceling the installation and rerun the setup gives me the same error.

    Anybody knows how to solve this.

    seems like a permission issue.

    check if the installation folder ( SEPM ) is blocked, right click properties check if you have blocked it.

    could be bypassed by moving the install files to the root of C:\. Please verify permissions are correct on the path where the install files are currently located, as well as on the %temp% directory

     simply unchecking the readonly attribute from tjhe downloaded folder will also work sometimes.

    Hi,

    You were right. Actually it was bad media ...
    Copied the content to hard disk and installed it from there.

    Upgraded without problems now.
