    Hi,

I'm kind of new with deploying Symantec Clients.

To cut down on WAN traffic we want to deploy the SEP 12 clients via SCCM. ( 2K7 R2 )

So I'm layering the client now and re-using a script which was written by the big company who sold us :)

The script runs fine, but in the script they call an exe called SETPSCAN.EXE located in a folder called CONFIG.

Together with this exe there are several folders by OU and 1 level deeper by machine type. This deepest folder contains the differen sylink.xml files.

I have a feeling, note that this is just a feeling, that setpscan.exe controls which machine should receive wich sylink.xml file...

But then again I'm a newbie on Symantec products...

Does somebody know if this exe is compatible and/ or needed?

    Thanks

    Dennis

It sounds like they created a custom one? ou would have to find out what it does as it's not part of the normal install package.

    Hi Brian

Thanks for the swift answer :)

Just tried to run in and examine it.

While trying to run it is asking for an option:

    -pon - disable pscan

    -poff - enable pscan

    While checking the properties:

File description - Srtsp32 Options Test Tool

    File version        - 10.3.8.1

    Product name   - AutoProtect

    Copyright         - Copyright(c) 2006 - 2011 Symantec Corporation

I'm not getting wiser out of it, but i know it isn't custom but provided by Symantec.

It could be old though since the copyright started in 2006...

srtsp is related to the quarantine. Not really sure what this is.

Did you try creating a new package?

I've created a new package and I'm test installing in between.

Our servers will be upgraded next saturday, then i can test fully.

It looks like it can install and work without the pscan, but for this I can only be sure once the servers have been set up...

I'll post an update once the servers are there.
