    Hello.,.

    1. First is this the most current realease? 3.3.2MP9
    2. Can I upgrade directly to 3.3.2MP9 or do I need to upgrade in steps? If so what are those steps
    3. If I need to do this in steps, do I need to wait 1 day in between or how long?
    4. Do I need to install a new license that matches the versin or will the existing one still work?
    5. How hard is this to do?
    6. Any documents would be great.
    7. Any other info would be helpful.

    Thanks

    Hello DLP Solutions2

I need some help on upgrading PGP Universal from 3.2.1MP5 to the most current release 3.3.2MP9

    3.3.2MP9 is the latest.

Can I upgrade directly to 3.3.2MP9 or do I need to upgrade in steps? If so what are those steps

    3.2.1 Mp5

    3.3.0 Mp3

    3.3.2

    3.3.2 Mp9

If I need to do this in steps, do I need to wait 1 day in between or how long?

You can install PGP upgrade after 1 hour or so difference.

Do take a backup of every successful upgrade.

Do I need to install a new license that matches the version or will the existing one still work?:

The license file will be updated to the new server.

The current license will work fine with the latest version.

    Any documents would be great.

    Thank you for the info..

I plan on installing the following:

    1. SymantecEncryption3.3.1_PUP.zip
    2. SymantecEncryption3.3.2_PUP.zip
    3. SymantecEncryption3.3.2MP9_PUP.zip

    Is this the right order??

Just to clarify a little, we have only 1 PGP server. There is no cluster or anything.

Do I have to wait the 1 hour in between upgrades or can I do these on after the other?

What criteria do I ned to be aware of to decide if I need to wait in between upgrades?

    Thanks!

    Hi DLP Solution2,

    The upgrade order will be

    1. SymantecEncryption3.3.0 MP3_PUP.zip
    2. SymantecEncryption3.3.2_PUP.zip
    3. SymantecEncryption3.3.2MP9_PUP.zip

It is recommended to upgrade to 3.3.0 MP3 and proceed further. Also about the wait time between the two upgrades is always recommended to make sure that the server work smooth and the clients communication goes fine

Can I upgrade from 3.2.1MP5 directly to 3.3.1?

Why do I need to go to 3.3.0MP3 first??

There is a licensing requirement between version 3.3.1 and 3.3.2 to address the naming convention changes and some additional details.

You can upgrade directly from 3.2.1 mp5 to 3.3.1 mp1 via a PUP update, but you can only do a PUP update to 3.3.2 if you are already on version 3.3.0 or higher.

If you were to do a migration instead, you could restore a backup and Organization key directly from 3.2.1 to 3.3.2 mp9.  Since you accept the license agreement when installing the 3.3.2 mp9 server to restore into, it allows a one-step process.
