  • 1.  Upgrading to SEPM 12.1

    Posted Nov 28, 2011 04:50 AM

I want to upgrade my SEP manager to 12.1 but have a few problems.  I am currently running 11.xx  on a windows server 2000 platform.  The prerequisits for 12.1 state that it isnt compatible with server 2000 so looks like I am going to have to install on a Server 2003 or Server 2008 platform.

I have never migrated the manager or the database before so was looking for some advise about how to do this.

Can you insall the newer version of sep manager on one machine and run the old, current version to manage the current clients, ie. 11.xx running on server 2000 platform and 12.1 running on server 2003/2008 platform?

Can somebody point me in the right direction on best practices or step by step guides please.

    Thankyou.

SEPM 12.1 manager can manage SEP 11 clients , so it should be any issue.

Install a new SEPM over Win 2003 and Update the Communiaction settings so that all the clients will start communicating to new sepm and then you can migrate to 12.1

Which Databse you are using....SQL or Embedded??? If embedded then u need to create SEPM over Embedded Database and replace with existing database backup

Best way to do this is Disaster Recovery for 11.0 and then upgrade it to 12.1.
