  • 1.  Upload Failed: Package must contain at least one application

I'm running SWS v6.1 SP6 b6.3.1.64 on Win 2008 R2 and Postgres for the database.  I have seen this on some of the packages I have built with SWV Admin, everything works perfectly locally, but when I go to upload the package, is get this error:

"Unknown. com.appstream.db.PSException: Package must contain at least one application."

In my case this was for Firefox.  The installer is the MSI "Enterprise" edition so I even tried to use the DISABLEADVTSHORTCUTS=1 flag to make sure it was creating real shortcuts instead of the MSI shortcuts, but that proved to create the same failed upload results.  I have searched the KBs and Googled for this error with no results.

I'm having the same issue with my Oracle layer that is a dependency for several other apps, but I kinda understand its upload failure given this specific error message.  However with this FF package I'm baffled.  It has a shortcut in the "System\[COMMONPROGRAMS]\Mozilla Firefox" area of the layer so what gives?

    Hello There,

Is this still an issue? How big is the XPF/VSA package? Could you please try uploading the Firefox package here?

    Hi,

Any virtualized package that you want to stream must be packaged using Wise Virtual Composer. Wise Virtual Composer creates and transforms XPF packages to be optimized for streaming. As part of the transformation process it adds additional package meta information such as associating file extentions with the package, handling advertised shortcuts, etc.

To convert any XPF package that was already created using SWV Admin, simply open the XPF package in Wise Virtual Composer and perform just the compile step. The output XPF can be uploaded to the streaming system. If this also produces the same problem, please provide additional details and we should be able to help you.

    Hope this helps.
