  • 1.  URGENT! Trying to clone using 8.2 and PXE over network- hanging at 99%

Hi, running GSS 1.0 and 8.2 on the client machines (new HP laptops), using server 2003 and its DHCP and using a CAT6 crossover cable. I am creating an image to the server's local HD, when the client gets to 99% I get the mouse pointer appear and it just sits there. After a while it says session timed out.

    Please help!

you can use ghost32.exe or ghost.exe to validate the image ( switch -chkimg) and confirm it is good.   Odds are it is but its a step in confirming its not the image.  I have read other people in this forum with similar problems with ghostcasting stopping at varying percent points and I believe most have just gone to the nic card or computer manufacturers web site and gotten a new .DOS driver file for ghost to use.  I don't know what the success rate was but I think it is the first step support will recommend.

Hi, can't check the image as I'm not able to create one! We're using PXE packet driver as we're booting off the network.

PXE packet driver is the NDIS driver that you can get from your card/computers manufacturer.  You can replace that driver with a newer one and try it out.

For instance I went to Dells' web site and downloaded the NIC driver for my machine.  It unzipped all the drivers to my hard drive before running the installer.  In the path:  C:\dell\drivers\R132254\DOS\NDIS2  I found a replacement NDIS driver for my NIC that I could supply the console to update the driver for my machines using that NIC.
