Hi guys, Can we use Symantec Security Virtual appliance on VMware Horizen non persistent? Or SVA is only supported with persistent VDIs?

Anyone is using it? Appreciate your support and replies. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks

    Regards,

SVA has to be installed the ESX/ESXi host server. it can be used on non-persistent VDI as well as long as you have the SVA on your host server.

From the release notes for 12.1.6 MP4:

In addition, Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6 MP4 is the last version to support:
    ■ 11.x or 12.0, which reached end of support life on January 5th, 2015. This
support includes Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager migration from 11.x
or 12.0, importing an 11.x client package, and the downloading and hosting of
definitions and other content for 11.x.
vShield-enabled Shared Insight Cache (VSIC) and Security Virtual Appliance
    (SVA)
    .
    ■ The installation of Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager on a 32-bit operating
system, or on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.
    ■ A SQL Server 2005 database for Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.

You might want to reconsider deploying SVAs in your environment.  I've heard some roadmap items in regards to this but I'm not at liberty to describe anything.

Please note that this won't stop you from setting up a Network Shared Insight Cache:

    Good luck!

Thanks for the reply High Tower. Do you mean SVA is not officially supported for higher versions i.e SEP 12.1.6 MP5. Do you mean that they are discontuning this feature in future release in regards to the roadmap?

    Thanks

Well, they say that it's not officially supported on newer versions.  Does that mean that it won't work?  The SVA will probably still work until the next major release but they won't help you with it.

Truly you should be on 12.1.6 MP5 due to the recently-patched client exploits.  Anything older than that is not safe.

Yes I am on RU6 MP5 but like you said the SVA is not supported on it. BTW do you have any insights as when SEP 14 is going to be released tentatively or the beta version? Thanks

SEP 14 is expected to hit the market by mid next year.  meanwhile SEP 14 beta is avaiable for beta testers since last 15 days or so.
