Vendors and software not included in PM metadata.

    Hi Guys,

     

    Would like to validate my thoughts and observation on this.

    Not all application are supported by Patch Management for patching, therefore we won't be able to gather information (i.e. applicable and missing patches) on unsupported vendors and softwares if the installed module is Patch Management Solution only. Is this correct?

    If this is the case, how can we patch the unsupported applications and gather information on them?

    Yes, you are correct, to patch unsupported applications you need Software Management Solution and then you would have to identify and download required patches yourself and use Software Management to install them. You can write your own rules in Software Management for Detection and Applicability and use Filter definitions to Target the patches correctly.
