I had VIP proximity working, but it stopped for some reason and now I am unable to re-pair it with my iPhone 8.  Any ideas on how to correct this issue?

    Hi Kevin and Laurent,

It appears that something caused the Proximity piece to break in the latest update. The dev team is aware of this and is working on a solution.  I'll post an update when that is released.

I'm having the same issue with ios 11.01, on iPhone 7 plus and MacOs Sierra 10.12.6.  Glad I found this forum. It was driving me crazy as it worked flawlessly before. Love the product!!! I too get the pairing failed screen even though bluetoothconnection is enabled between my Mac and iPhone. When I go to test my  credential for proximity on the webpage, I do get a notification to accept on my iPhone and despite saying it was sucessful, the app doesn't pair.

    Looking forward to next update.

I had the same issue and got it working again after following below steps:

    1. On macOS, open terrminal and search for proximity process -  ps -ef | grep -i proxi
    2. Kill the running process of proximity using command - "kill -9 <pid of proximity>
    3. Navigate to application installation dirtectory via finder -  /Applications/VIP\ Access/VIP\ Access\ Proximity.app/Contents/MacOS/
    4. Double click on "VIP Access  Proximity" - it will launch in terminal and VIP app will appear in upper task bar on mac.
    5. you can close the terminal windows now
    6. Launch VIP proximity in iphone
    7. On Mac, click on connect from proximity app - you should see the connection on mobile .

    config details -

    macOS - 10.12.6

    iPhone 7 - 11.0.1

    Hope this help.

Hi - I'm running into the same issue connecting my iPhoneX to my Macbook running MacOS High Sierra. Has there been a solution yet?

I had VIP Proximity Access working just fine on macOS 10.13.4 along with an iPhone 6S with iOS 11.3. I upgraded to an iPhone X. I unpaired the 6S and trie to pair the X. No luck. Then I tried to go back to pairing the 6s. Again, no luck. Really wish this would get resolved. @suneelm, your instructions did not help either.

In which log are you seeing this? I don't see anything similar. When looking at system.log, I do see this when I start VIP Access Proximity:

com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.symantec.authclient-vip.aegis): This service is defined to be constantly running and is inherently inefficient.

I am having problems pairing with iOS 11.3 and macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.4. I previously had this working. But was running out of disk space and decided to do a Fresh Install.  I redownloaded the VIP Proximity desktop. Tested my key and it said it was working. But got the 'Pairing Failed" screen shown in Kevin Westbury's post. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the app on both my mac and iPhone 8+ with iOS 11.3

The token was now different and i tested it on the VIP webpage and it said it was ok. When I go to pair it again, I again get the 'Pairing Failed' dialogue. What I don't understand is that it was previously working on my old install, and now after reimaging my macbook pro, it now fails to pair. I keep my machine patched and up to date. Anyone have any idea why it is now unable to pair? The patch levels would be identical and same versions of the apps.

I love this product when it's working. It works solid for proximity unlocking. But something invariably changes and is unable to pair again.

    Please help!

VIP desktop for mac version 2.0.2.6

VIP access for iOS Version 4.2.3

    Best regards.

Got the same issue with my new Galaxy S8, coming from an iPhone 6. Andreas Horlacher, did your dev team ever deploy its fix for this issue?

I'm running OS X High Sierra 10.13.4 and am using a Samsung Galaxy S8 with Android Oreo and Samsung Experience 9.0; G950FXXU1CRB7/G950FOXM1CRAP/G950FXXU1CRAP. Downloaded both the latest Mac and Android VIP Access versions today.

The same issue persists and the given fix did not help.

    Running:

    iOS 11.4

    macOS 10.13.4 (High Sierra)

    Symantec App version 4.2.3

Was there any fix ever deployed?

    Same issues here.

    iPhone 7

    iOS 11.4

    2017 MBP 15"

    macOS 10.13.5

    Proximity 2.0.2.6

How about something from Symantec on this?  An "update" was mentioned in fall, 2017!

I'm working with engineering to determine next steps. There have been a few OS updates recently that seem to be a factor when it breaks. I will update a soon as possible when I get more information. If you want me to update you via email when I get news, drop me a private message with your address.

Do we have any updates on this yet? We just started upgrading our MacBooks where I work and we all use this function heavily.

Symatec Technical Support, can you folks please expedite the fix. This has been working fine for me until last week when I accidentally deleted the paired computer from VIP proximity app on iPhone 7. Now when I initiate the pairing on VIP Access on Mac, it detects the phone but fails at the stage of initializing pairing. I am adding screenshots from both mobile and Mac below.

This is truly nuts.  No update since last year, and we can't use this software for our TFA.

Highly disappointed in Symantec on this.

Curious to learn whether Andreas Horlacher has got any news. But the fact this issue was raised and picked up 10 months ago, with no solution or communication update to date, makes you wonder how important Symantec really considers its users.

@Daniel - agreed.  We're a huge enterprise client, and this will make me speak up at any discussions regarding this product and further use of it.

"Hey guys, we're working on it".

A year later almost and nothing?  It's not going to get easier with new updates coming rapid-fire.  Really disapointed in SYMC.

Well, it seems like Symantec's "Connect" forum works just as well as their VIP access application...

    Hi,

Could you please help us locating the VIP proximity installer for mac ?  As per your VIP documentation - it mentioned that download vip access with proximity option at vip.symantec.com but i do not see this option . i can only see download vip access  and which does not have proximity functionality.

Kindly let me know the vip access for proximity link.

    Thanks.

    Hi folks,

As an update, the Proximity portion of VIP Access desktop has been indefinitely removed from the product, as you can see on https://vip.symantec.com. Hence, the option is absent for any new installs. There are many new features and improvements in upcoming releases, which will be posted to this link upon release. However, the Proximity feature has been shelved for now. Apologies for the delays in posting this information.
