Is it possible to start the virtual ghost disk with static ip (ip,subnet, def. gateway) ?

I want to create an image from the "main server"(dc,dns, wins, dhcp) - no other is in the subnet

We have 4 subnet (in one is the GSS server) and I need a different "static ip virtual ghost disk" to create an image from each "subnet main server"

    Hi Ronald,

It is possible to use Static IP with Virtual Partition. If your machine uses Static IP in Windows, it will use the same static IP when go in to Virtual Partition.

    Hi,

If I start my image creating task the virtual ghost disk is booting and always use dhcp instead of the fixed ip from windows - whats the correct settings to use static ip ?

(maybe talk about different things: with static ip I mean the fixed ip adress that I set in windows and no ip reservation in the dhcp server - at our servers we always use fixed/static ip and use the host file)

    Hi,

I assume that you use Ghost console and use a task to create the image. In that situation, when the client boot to DOS, it will use the static IP set in Windows.

Could you double click the machine icon in Console and see if it displays the correct IP address in ‘General’ tab? For some reason if Console thinks it is DHCP, it will say DHCP for the IP address.

In case of static IP, it will show IP, subnet mask and default gateway there.

    Hi,

There is an error message in the general tab (at all of my servers) network card:
several network card driver are installed on the client (maybe the error message is not 100% translated - we have a german installation)

Our servers have a dual onboard network card (2x Intel Pro 1000) - on the most servers we use one networkcard (fix ip) and the second card is disabeld or no network cable is connected

Only one old server with a single Intel Pro 100 network card show the correct ip,subnet,..

Is there a setting to correct this problem ?

The ghost console has problems dealing with clients with more than one network card, and will not use the static IP address assign in Windows. If you are not using the other NICs then you could try disabling the NIC in the BIOS of the machine and removing second set of drivers from the Windows device manager.
When you perform a configuration refresh in the Ghost console, it should then recognise that the client has a single static IP address and use that instead of DHCP when it next boots into the Virtual Partition.

I am having the same issue ... did any of these "fixes" work or did you find a workaround. I have several different hardware types. Ghost 8.3 Console recognizes the static ip and the console clones the PCs successfully. The problem is the HP wx4300 boxes with two Broadcom Netextreme NIC cards. I have no difficulty with cloning tasks using boot floppies but the workstation configuration from the console thinks the connection should be DHCP

I tried solution suggested by Anakin S. on 6/19.
I removed the additional NIC card.
    Thanks for the info.!

Does anyone have a solution for this. I can do a backup on a pc with one nic card but if the pc has 2 nics i get the following error after installing the remote ghost client.

network card error - multiple network card driver installed in client.

when it tries to do the backup it just fails and gives the following error

failed to reboot client to recovery partition. I cannot disable the secondary nic as it needs to be there.
